4 Ways to Ring in Spring

4 Ways to Ring in Spring

Spring is here, and we’re ready for warmer weather. We’re also ready to recognize all the great outdoor activities we have access to in the North Florida region. We’ve got a lot going for us, right in our own backyard, and now’s the time to take advantage of it!

  1. Take a Walk in the Park: Take a stroll beneath a canopy of Spanish moss and alongside blooming flowers at Maclay Gardens. Read a book by Lake Ella. Or if you’re feeling more adventurous, hike or bike along any number of Tallahassee’s scenic trails. We’re lucky to live in a region full of greenery and natural beauty, so why not get out there and enjoy it? For information on Tallahassee and Leon County’s top outdoor attractions, visit Trailahassee.
  2. Make Life a Beach: As the weather warms up, the water will too! Take a trip to the beach at St. George Island or Alligator Point. For fresh water fun, check out Wakulla Springs, and you could even spot a manatee or two!
  3. Get Festive for Festival Season: With spring comes a showcase of Tallahassee talent at a range of festivals celebrating music, literature art and theatre. Here are some of our favorites: Word of South, Southern Shakespeare Festival, LeMoyne Chain of Parks Art Festival.
  4. Enjoy Local Brews Outside: Whether you’re into coffee, beer or both, spring is prime time to sit outside with a locally-made, tasty drink in hand. For your locally-roasted coffee fix, we recommend Lucky Goat Coffee, Black Dog Cafe and Catalina Cafe. Our top picks for grabbing a local pint include Proof at Railroad Square and Grasslands Brewery.
  5. BONUS: With all this pollen in the air, don’t sneeze and sniffle your way through the season! Whether it’s allergy medicine or local honey (we love Orchard Pond Organics’ Wildflower and Tupelo varieties) that helps you, remember to stock up so you can enjoy the season.
