Help Yourself

Everyone loves a countdown. Think New Year’s Eve, the start of old movies, and David Letterman’s Top Ten. The 4s compiles decades of experience in recognizing excellence into Advice 4U.  Ladies and gentlemen…The 4s. It can be hard to decide which cause to join or which organization to volunteer for since there are so many choices out there. But getting involved in the community is a really rewarding experience. There are so many reasons that giving back is rewarding, but here’s my top 4. 4 Reasons to Give Back

  1. Develop Skills. You will gain new skills each and every time you volunteer because needs change every day. Volunteering is not just a good resume builder, it brings you opportunities that might not come along otherwise.
  2. Boost Self-Esteem. Helping others makes you feel good about yourself. Like I always say, a little recognition goes a long way.
  3. New Perspective. Sometimes we get too wrapped up to remember there are people out there worse off than us. Volunteering gives you the opportunity to see the strength of people who are worse off and still hanging in there.
  4. Feeling Appreciated. Feeling appreciated is something everyone needs. Volunteering to help people who need your help is enough appreciation to last a lifetime.
